When you see an NJEA Consortium Information Table at a community event, you will not only receive information about inclusive curriculum design and the New Jersey mandates, but you will also find an invitation to engage in an interactive Scrabble Board.
Engaging community members in an interactive Scrabble game perfectly aligns with the NJEA Consortium’s commitment to fostering community by creating a low-stakes, collaborative, and inherently social activity.
Attendees are encouraged to interact, brainstorm, and build upon each other’s contributions (words), directly mirroring the concept of community members connecting and supporting one another. This shared, visible creation fosters a sense of collective accomplishment and provides natural, organic opportunities for conversation, laughter, and relationship-building among diverse individuals, strengthening the bonds that define a vibrant community.
Here are some examples of these co-created projects from recent events. (Remember, this is meant to be a low stakes community activity, so you may catch some violations of traditional Scrabble on the boards – and that’s perfectly ok!)
