NJEA Consortium

Connections. Community. Curriculum.

The NJEA Consortium, having received funding from an NEA Great Public Schools grant, aims to revolutionize the integration of representative curricula into K-12 teaching across New Jersey. Its mission goes beyond presenting diversity as "heroes and holidays" and works towards the continuous celebration of our state's rich diversity and the valued inclusion of all voices.

On April 1, 2022, the NEA awarded NJEA a three-year grant entitled Cultivating Community, Action, Justice, and Understanding through the NJEA Consortium: Connections. Community. Curriculum. With collaborative efforts from NJEA staff members, member design-teams and partnerships spanning over 25 prestigious educational institutions and social justice advocacy organizations, the consortium aims to infuse historically marginalized identities into K-12 teaching and learning.

This initiative goes beyond curriculum; it is about building strong community relationships, providing professional development and fostering conversations that will make New Jersey's diverse population see themselves in our schools' teachings.
