NJDOE announces new resources for NJSLA-A and NJGPA-A

On March 9, 2026, the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) issued a broadcast announcing the release of resources to support schools and districts as they prepare for the spring implementation of the new statewide assessment system. These materials were developed in response to questions and feedback gathered during recent statewide information sessions. New resources include one-page guides for students and families that provide links to free online practice tests, helping students become familiar with the testing platform, item formats and available tools for the NJSLA-A and NJGPA-A assessments. The NJDOE has also created a customizable parent/guardian letter to help districts communicate the purpose and structure of the new assessment system.

Additional supports include an updated Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document addressing topics such as assessment design, administration procedures, accessibility features, accommodations, reporting and spring testing requirements. An on-demand information session recording is now available for educators and community members who were unable to attend the live sessions. To further support preparation, the NJDOE has also released the NJSLA-A/NJGPA-A writing rubrics, which provide guidance on how student writing responses will be scored.

Districts are encouraged to review these materials and share them with staff and families to support readiness for the upcoming assessments. Resources can be accessed through the following links:

As always, please reach out to the Professional Development and Instructional Issues (PDII) Division with any questions or requests for support.
